Terms of Use / Conditions Générales d'Utilisation
Version 1.3 · Effective 1 September 2026 · Last updated 13 September 2026
If the English and French versions ever differ, the reading most favourable to the consumer applies.
1. What Voci is
Voci helps a family raise a child with more than one language. You tell it who in your household speaks what, how often, and with how much back-and-forth, and it produces a small weekly plan of specific things you can actually do, plus a short illustrated activity your child can play.
Voci is an educational tool for parents. That is the whole of what it claims to be.
2. What Voci is not, and does not promise
This section is deliberately near the top, because these are the promises a product like this is most tempted to make.
Voci does not promise that your child will become bilingual. Nobody can promise that. Language acquisition depends on your household, your community, your child, and years of ordinary life that no app participates in.
Voci does not guarantee, and does not claim to influence in any measurable way:
- fluency, bilingualism, or the retention of a heritage language;
- vocabulary size, or progress at any particular rate;
- performance at school, now or later;
- any developmental outcome whatsoever.
Voci is not a medical or developmental assessment. The readings it maintains about your child are educational judgments used to choose what to suggest next. They are not a diagnosis, not a screening, not a clinical measure, and they do not compare your child to other children.
If you are concerned about your child's speech, hearing, language or development, speak to a doctor, a paediatrician or a speech and language therapist. Do not use Voci for that, and do not let anything Voci shows you delay it. An app telling you things look fine is not a reason to wait.
3. Your account
You must be an adult to create an account. That means at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. The account is yours: you accept these terms, you control everything in it, and you are responsible for what happens under it.
Voci is for use by an adult, on behalf of a child. Children do not have accounts. Your child cannot sign in, has no password, and cannot reach any setting or control in Voci.
You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us at help@voci.family if you think someone else has it.
4. Child profiles
You may create a profile for a child you are the parent or legal guardian of, or for whom you otherwise have authority to make this decision. By creating one, you confirm that you have that authority.
You are also confirming it for the other people you describe, meaning grandparents, childminders and anyone else you tell Voci about. Voci never contacts them, and holds only their first name, their relationship to your child, and which languages they use. You can remove any of them at any time.
5. The adult check
Some actions in Voci sit behind a short puzzle intended to establish that an adult is holding the device: deleting things, exporting your data, turning on the microphone, leaving the app, changing your child's settings, and moving from your child's part of the app into yours.
It is a child-safety control, not a security measure and not a substitute for your password. Do not solve it in front of a child who is old enough to copy you.
6. Acceptable use
Use Voci for your own family. Please do not:
- use another person's account, or let a child use yours unsupervised in Parent
Space;
- create profiles for children you have no authority over;
- try to reach another family's data, or test whether you can;
- attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service;
- resell Voci, or use it to provide a service to other families.
7. What belongs to whom
Ours. Voci itself belongs to Nikita Jevpalovs or to those who licensed it to us. That includes the software, the engine, the curriculum, the phrase books, the fox character, the illustrations and the words in the interface. The artwork is original and is not stock imagery. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own family, and nothing more.
Yours. Everything you tell Voci about your family stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it, we do not sell it, we do not use it to advertise to you, and we do not use it to train anything for anyone else. You can take a complete copy at any time and you can delete all of it yourself.
8. Privacy
How Voci handles your family's information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. There is a short version written for children, What Voci remembers about you.
The two things worth repeating here: the microphone is off until an adult turns it on, and Voci never records your child.
9. Availability and changes
Voci is provided as it is at the time you use it. We try to keep it running, but we do not promise that it always will be. There will be maintenance, there will be faults, and there may be interruptions we did not choose.
We may change, add or remove features. If a change materially reduces what Voci does for you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
We may update these terms. The version and date are at the top. Material changes are announced in the app before they apply. If you do not accept a change, you may close your account, and everything in it is deleted.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. That includes the guarantees of conformity owed to consumers under the Code de la consommation and the guarantee against hidden defects under the Code civil.
Voci offers suggestions, not instructions. What you do about your child's education, health or development stays your decision, and the suggestions Voci makes are yours to accept, adapt or ignore.
11. Ending it
You can close your account at any time, from Parent Space → Your data → Delete my account. It happens immediately and it deletes everything.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 6, or where we are required to. Except where a serious breach or a legal requirement makes it impossible, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.
12. Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by French law. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country.
If something goes wrong. Write to us first at help@voci.family. If we cannot settle it together, you can take the dispute to our consumer mediator free of charge, before going to court:
- Société de la Médiation Professionnelle, online through the form at
www.mediateur-consommation-smp.fr;
- or by post to Société de la Médiation Professionnelle, Alteritae,
5 rue Salvaing, 12000 Rodez, France.
A request to the mediator has to be made in writing and in French. The European Commission also lists the dispute resolution bodies in the European Union at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu.
13. Voci Family, the paid subscription
Voci Family is a paid subscription for the whole family: every child and every language Voci speaks. It is not on sale yet. When it is, these are the conditions. The full sale conditions (CGV) are still being prepared.
Price. €9.99 a month, or €79.99 a year, VAT included.
Free days. Voci is free for the first 7 days after you create your account, and no card is needed. After that, Today, stories and phrases need Voci Family. Your account, your data, the week and the demo story stay free.
Who sells it. Voci Family is sold by Paddle.com, our online reseller and the merchant of record for every order. Paddle takes the payment, sends the receipt and handles tax.
Renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel it. Before a yearly subscription renews, you are sent an email between three months and one month ahead, reminding you that you can stop it (Code de la consommation, article L215-1).
Starting straight away. You pay when you subscribe, and you ask for Voci Family to start immediately rather than after the 14-day withdrawal period. You can still withdraw within those 14 days, and our Refund Policy then refunds you in full. Voci asks you to confirm each of these separately, and neither is ticked for you.
Cancelling. Any time, in Voci, from Parent Space → Voci Family. You keep Voci Family until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
Refunds. Covered by the Refund Policy.
If Voci Family does not work as described. Voci Family is supplied continuously, so under French law we answer for any lack of conformity that appears while you are subscribed (Code de la consommation, articles L224-25-12 and following). Tell us at help@voci.family and we will put it right free of charge, within a reasonable time. If we cannot, or do not, you can ask for a lower price or end your subscription and be refunded for the time it did not work as it should.
Updates. For as long as you are subscribed, you get the updates Voci Family needs to keep working as described, at no extra cost (article L224-25-25).
Changes beyond updates. If we ever change Voci Family in a way that makes it harder to use or less useful to you, we will tell you by email before the change happens, it will cost you nothing, and you can end your subscription within 30 days and be refunded for the rest of the period you have paid for.
Withdrawal form. You can withdraw by writing to us, or by sending the model form in the annex at the end of these terms. You do not have to use the form.
14. Annex: model withdrawal form
The form French law provides (Code de la consommation, annex to article R221-1). Use it only if you want to withdraw from the contract, and only if you want to: an email saying the same thing works just as well.
